Turn the TV

Hello,

I sit here trying to accomplish some unknown task I have not yet found.

I discovered that life for me is just a series of lazy and working moments. And it takes work to be lazy; at times I won't even change the channel because the remote has taken it weekly hiatus in the bottom of the couch. Traveling from my hand, onto the cushion and then slip in between them to enter the bottom cavern of this sofa falling into layers of flaked off skin, change that had not seen daylight in 2 decades and a t-shirt I had never seen before.

I put on the shirt and grabbed the change for a treat at Starbucks.

The TV is left on for my dogs, Ickis and Milli, and I'm still not sure if that’s kindness or torture. All I know is they won't watch it by themselves in the living room.

I love my TV and usually watch comedy or knowledge programming.

But have found, now that I am attempting to create a new life, that the more I watch the more I do not accomplish.

AS I perform and create my comedy skills and material watching comedies have changes. I've found new ways of dissecting the shows and performances I watch and I say "Man I though bi-polar was tough- trying putting it all out there on stage"

So TV isn't so fun anymore, I'm not doing anything to better myself or the human condition, TV has made my life Terminally Void of action. No wonder Grandma called it the boob tube- You just lie there with no other purpose than to nurse a child’s mind.

Certainly my life won't be devoid of TV.

I've just decided that when I have accomplished some work in my home, employment and personal sector of my life it will then be but it will be hard because I’ve been a TV addict over 35 years that I can remember. After school, before breakfast and 24/7 on the weekends the TV was my best friend. Always there warm and accepting with gentle messages reassuring me.

Everything has it time and place, mine is now.
