Gonzaga Basketball -- The good, the bad and the ugly

The Zags just keep on rolling, spanking the University of Maryland 82-68.
The Gonzaga men's basketball team just keeps on rolling this season, and on Saturday, they spanked the University of Maryland 82-68.

Here are some insights into the game.

The Good: Blake Stepp was on fire in this game, shooting the ball from another zip code, going 7 for 11 from three point range. He scored 27 points, dished out 11 assists, pulled down seven rebounds and had four steals. He was grinning in the second half as he downed deep shots and made behind the back passes for dunks.

Freshman Adam Morrison is growing up quickly. In 24 minutes of play, he scored 18 points (7 of 11 from the field), and finished with seven rebounds. He was impressive with his play in transition, dunking three times in the second half, leading the Zags second half run.

Kyle Bankhead was once again a catalyst for the Zags, scoring 11 points in 19 minutes of play. In the last two games, he is eight for nine from the field, including four of five from three-point territory.

The Bad: Ronny Turiaf was only one of six from the field, and turned an ankle in the first half. He played sparingly in the second half and it will be interesting to see what he can give the team in the game on Sunday.

Cory Violette was zero for six from the field and only scored two points. He seemed to get pushed around a little in the post, which is strange for him. Maryland was doubling any passes into the post, preventing much of an inside game.

The Ugly: Twenty-four turnovers. How do you turn the ball over that much and win by 14 points against a ranked opponent? Shoot 48% and hit 14 of 25 three point shots, thats how!

Next up for the Zags is a date in the Championship game of the BB&T Tournament on Sunday. Missouri and Stanford await the Zags on the next two Saturdays. Can't wait to see the next Top 25 poll. Maybe the Zags can sneak up a few notches.
