The rapper, real name Marshall Mathers III, appeared on Detroit radio station WKQI-FM’s "Mojo in the Morning" show Tuesday and said of Mathers, "We have reconciled and are probably going to remarry." During the interview he referred to Mathers as "my wife Kim." The two high school sweethearts have had a rocky relationship to say the least. They had a daughter, Hailie Jade, in 1995 and were married four years later. He hit the big time in 2000 and one particularly disturbing song on his breakthrough album The Slim Shady LP was "Kim," a song in which he rapped about killing her. Call me crazy, but that just doesn’t seem to be a sign of a happy, loving marriage.
Eminem filed for divorce a few months later and Mathers shot back with her own lawsuit looking to get her share of his estate and asked for another $10 million for "emotional distress" caused by the song "Kim." In December 2000, the couple tried to reconcile for the sake of their daughter, but three-months later Mather’s filed for an "expedited divorce." This move sparked a nasty custody battle, ending when Eminem agreed to give Mather’s physical custody and financial support. After the divorce was finalized, Mathers went off the deep-end. She was arrested for cocaine possession. Plead guilty to a drug charge and a driving offense and walked away with two-year’s probation. Eminem was awarded full custody of their daughter after his wife failed to appear at two separate court dates.
Eminem’s new album Curtain Call hit stores on Tuesday. During his interview on Tuesday, he talked about his recent time spent in rehab for an addiction to sleep medication. He announced he was going to rehab after canceling the European leg of his tour in August. On Tuesday he said, "When I went into rehab, I kind of went into it…with the notion of ‘I’m gonna get clean, I’m gonna get off this stuff before it gets too out of hand.’" He said of his career, "I’m at a point in my life right now where I feel like I don’t know where my career is going. This is the reason that we called it ‘Curtain Call,’ because this could be the final thing. We don’t know."
