Hillary Clinton Heads to Manhattan

Rumors are circulating that the Clintons are in the process of selling their recently-purchased Chappaqua mansion.
The $1.9 million mansion in the suburbs of New York was purchased by Bill and Hillary Clinton so that they could sell prospective New York voters on the idea that the First Lady was indeed going to become a "real New Yorker." The fact that they were purchasing property and "settling down" outside New York was a favorite selling point of her supporters during Hillary’s successful run to become one of the state of New York’s senators. The word around the recent Kennedy Honors Gala and the pre-party at the White House was that the Clintons are actively in the market for an apartment in Manhattan that will serve as their "base of operations" for their continuing political careers and interests.

Some insiders suggest that Bill Clinton may have his eye on City Hall and may launch a campaign to become the mayor in a few years. Bill has coyly suggested that he couldn’t afford to take such a position, but the pending sale of the Chappaqua mansion (which will be wildly inflated because of the prestige of its former owners) should help to eliminate a healthy portion of the Clinton legal debt. Whatever is left will certainly be absorbed when Bill signs the lucrative future book deal that will ultimately publish his personal memoirs

So, regardless of the location of their new home, the Clintons will clearly be in a position to enjoy their new surroundings to the fullest.
