It’s A Boy For Toni Braxton
Toni Braxton and husband Keri Lewis, keyboardist for Mint Condition, welcomed a baby boy on Sunday, December 2nd, in Atlanta.
Denim Cole Braxton Lewis was born Sunday, December 2nd in Atlanta Georgia to proud parents singer Toni Braxton and keyboardist husband Keri Lewis. Denim weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces and he is the first child for Braxton and Lewis. Spokesman, David Broka, was quoted as saying, "Mom and baby are doing fine." Braxton and Lewis met four years ago during a Kenny G. tour. Mint Condition served as her back-up band when she opened for Kenny G. during his 1997 North American tour. Braxton and Lewis married in June.
Braxton was born in Severn, MD and grew up singing in church with her four sisters. She entered and won local talent contests and secretly hoped to pursue her dreams which were inspired by the likes of Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder. In 1991, while attending Bowie State University, Braxton became the first female artist to sign with LaFace Records.
In 1993 she released her self-titled debut disc, which went platinum. In 1996, she followed that up with Secrets, which topped the charts and allowed her to work with extraordinary talents such as Babyface, R. Kelly, David Foster, and Tony Rich. A series of bad investments rendered Braxton bankrupt and many thought, out to pasture. Braxton managed her finances and snagged a $20 million recording contract. She had another huge hit with the 2000 Grammy winning The Heat. Braxton also made her acting debut in April in the family comedy Kingdome Come. Braxton and Lewis just recently collaborated on a recently released holiday album, Snowflakes.
