New Year’s Eve Cruise

New Years Eve can be enjoyed with family and friends on a cruise. A New Years cruise can evoke a feeling of nostalgia and sweet memories of the past.
The sweet nostalgic feeling that one gets when one is gazing at the still water cannot be beaten. One of the ways of experiencing and internalizing this feeling is when one is on a New Years cruise. New Year Cruise parties are getting increasingly popular as the years rush by. The New Years Cruise concept started as a something to provide the elitist of society an opportunity to celebrate New Year’s Eve by getting away from the milling crowds. But today New Year’s cruises are available for people with all kinds of wallet sizes. One of the literary giants who popularized the concept of a cruise was Samuel Langhorn Clemens a.k.a. Mark Twain. His steamboats that traversed the Mississippi River while Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer perpetuated their adventure have left an indelible mark on generations.

The cruise options range the entire spectrum of the garish to the classy. The crowd profile also varies accordingly. In the United States of America there is an entire gamut of cruise options. One of the popular cruising destinations is the Boston Harbor. The tour lasts for approximately 3 hours and it includes wine, dinner, light music and most importantly – fireworks. There are theme cruises such as the Copa Cabana cruise that capitalizes on the Salsa, Merengue & Latin Classical music that is served up. Some of the larger cruises have the dual theme option. This involves two floors on the single cruise. One level could be a Latino theme while the other one could be a hip-hop night. The crowd profile for both the floors could be as different as chalk and cheese. The dress code and behavioral code itself could be different. Buffet styles could be "all you can eat" or "pay for what you eat." In most places no outside food or beverages are allowed to be brought onboard.

A New Year’s cruise involves a lot of mingling, dancing & drinking on the water. As the DJ spices up the night the people can enjoy the open bar and hors d'oeuvres. One thing is guaranteed is that there will be enough noise for everyone. A hotel pick up and drop off can be provided to make it more convenient for the guests. The General Jackson is a 300 ft. paddlewheel riverboat. A return to the halcyon days of the Mark Twain era. It includes a wide variety of entertainment including strolling musicians, a dueling piano bar, a country show on midday cruises and a Broadway-style show on evening cruises. This is one of the most sought after cruises and bookings should be made well in advance.

Europe can also be an interesting destination for a New Years Eve cruise. Chartered sailboats are available for the British Virgin Islands. There are people who have the ability to combine a cruise with any theme. A popular New Year’s Eve cruise theme in Asia is that of Aikido. It involves 108 slashes of a ceremonial sword one for each sin committed during the year. If this wasn’t painful enough it is followed by a dive into the icy waters. This is a concept that is picking up rapidly in the West. A Rhine river cruise means an opportunity to see most of the castles along the Rhine in one, two or three days. Rhineland-Palatinate is in the western region in Germany near the French border and has the beautiful wine country near the Mosel and Rhine rivers. Seeing Prague from the river is a unique experience. The historical center presents itself from a different perspective and unusual angles. The cruise will pass by Vltava's islands. Unguided and guided tours are both available. If you are in Australia then there is nothing that can beat a cruise down the Yarra River. It will take all of 5 hours to complete the entire journey. The view of the fireworks at midnight is nothing short of mind blowing.
