NASCAR: All I Want For Christmas This Year
A light look at an approximate cost of having a Winston Cup Team for one year.
Dear Santa,
I have been a very good girl this year. There is just one thing that I would like for Christmas.
A NASCAR Team.
Thats not too much to ask, after all it would only cost a measly 9 million bucks. It would be easy to wrap, heck just stuff the ownership papers in a stocking. It wouldnt even have to be a "good" team, I would settle for a mediocre team the first year or so, Im sure I could sign a driver for half a million.
The team could even drive Pontiacs, I heard that Ward Burtons team has about 25 of them for sale along with at least 18 engines. That should only run around $ 1.6 million. Of course I would have to buy all the parts, drive trains, tires, suspensions and metal, but thats only another $1.7 million, give or take a few hundred thousand. I need staff to run the team and I have to get them to and from the track every week, plus food, uniforms, office supplies, ect. I figure that would run me a little over a million.
Then there is this research and developement and testing that they are always talking about. Im sure that would have to figure into the $3.5 million range. Total that up so far and we are at around $8.3 million. There will always be more miscellaneous expenses and of course I have to look good at the track so that brings us in right at $9 million.
Well, now that its all right here in black and white I suppose it might be a bit much to ask even for Santa. I guess I will take these visions of nascars dancing in my head and go settle in for a long winters nap.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a safe ride.
