In the first ruling of its kind in Australia, a Melbourne woman has won a seven-year battle to have her dead husband's baby.

The Victorian civil and administrative tribunal has ruled that the 36-year-old woman, whose husband died in a car accident in 1998, can be impregnated with his frozen sperm.
