Where will the big free agents land?
There are a lot of big name free agents in Major League Baseball this offseason. Here are a few predictions on where some of them might land this winter.
While we are sitting in our homes this winter, nothing will bring more joy to us than a good cup of hot chocolate, except maybe turning on the ol' television and seeing the press conference of a big name player as he puts on the jersey of our favorite team.
Here are some of the big name free agents of this off-season and my predictions of where they will end up:
Gary Sheffield (Atlanta Braves): I can't see George Steinbrenner not getting Curt Schilling or Sheffield onto the NY Yankees roster. And since the Boston Red Sox just got Schilling, so I think Sheff to the Yanks.
Luis Castillo (Florida Marlins): Castillo said he is interested in staying with Florida and he has supposedly received an offer from them. Castillo, he's staying in Florida.
Kevin Millwood (Philadelphia Phillies): He is a big time pitcher that fits in very nicely in Philly and they are set on keeping him. Millwood is staying in Philadelphia.
Vladimir Guerrero (Montreal Expos): I could think like everyone else and say he'll end up in Baltimore, but what fun would that be. So, I am gonna go out on a limb and say that Houston might want to revive some hope in its franchise next season. So Vladdy, pack your bags, your heading to the Astros.
Andy Pettitte (NY Yankees): All this talk about the Astros is bogus. Steinbrenner won't let him leave and I think he wants to stay. Don't worry George, Andy isn't leaving you, he is staying with the Yankees.
Bartolo Colon (Chicago White Sox): Next to Sheffield, he is the priority of the Yankees. So, Colon is going to the Yankees.
Javy Lopez (Atlanta Braves): The Cubbies need a catcher and they have the money to sign a decent one like Lopez. I see him as a Chicago Cub.
Ivan Rodriguez (Florida Marlins): After watching him play in the World Series, I don't think Florida will let him go anywhere. He is their franchise now, so I think he is staying in Florida.
Miguel Tejada (Oakland Athletics): Orioles need a big time player and they have the money to get one. He is a great fit to build a franchise around, and I can see him in Baltimore.
Kaz Matsui (Japan): The Mets are extremely interested in this guy, but as a Met fan, I would like to see him at second if they go after him. Still, he will be a New York Met.
Greg Maddux (Atlanta Braves): St. Louis needs a good starter to go with Woody Williams and Matt Morris. If they get him, I'd say the Pedro Martinez-Curt Schilling-Derek Lowe trio has some solid competition. Move over Boston, Maddux is going to the Cardinals.
Mike Cameron (Seattle Mariners): Hopefully, the Mets can out bid Seattle to get this gold glover. I think and hope he will be patrolling center as a New York Met.
Keith Foulke (Oakland Athletics): The Red Sox seem very interested in obtaining a solid closer and it seems Foulke may be interested in them, so as far as I can see, he will be in Boston this year.
Well, those are my predictions. Now let's watch and see how many of them come true.
