Nuances of Packing
Packing is one of those fine arts which we all seek to master but can never get ourselves to do so, lets see how?
Normally, we forget amidst our routine life that there is a sunny day tomorrow which can only be lived through with a straight frame of mind. And that straight frame of mind sadly doesn’t spring up, until it’s high time for us to take a break, or go on a vacation. More often than not women are totally considered to be the worst packers, as they suddenly imagine things that might never occur and nine times out of ten, it’s the worst case scenarios, this prompts them to pack in more than what is required.
Men on the other hand either want to impress upon the fact that they can be the most dutiful packers, borrowing every thing from pen to pins from their better halves. Of course there are no standard rules required to understand how best you need to pack, although there are a few basic pointers that help in packing the best and most efficient bags, while you’re on travel. The bottom line is if you can be creative and yet efficient, there's no limit to how great a packer you can be!
Tips to help you pack
To begin with, its great to remember that whenever you pack, try and come to a conclusion on the number of days you are to stay and what according to you might be the destination’s weather. You might want to check that with your tour operator and make a mental picture of the place and accordingly make a list of what you need to take along. It’s not so difficult to narrow down your search once you understand the location of your stay.
The next that comes in line is the number of days. While considering this, its even better if you could treat each day and match it up with the outfit accordingly. For example, Sundays and weekends are usually the lightest in terms of clothing, where you strictly follow causal wear and nothing else. But of course the scene changes once you have that dreaded meeting thrown in to ruin your plans.
As for the rest of the week, it’s easy, as you just have to bother about 5 days more. It’s also important that while you are packing, you go the descending order of clothes, as is defined by your itinery. This helps while unpacking where you don’t have to necessarily hunt for the clothes while you’re rummaging through other things.
Apart from the fact that you have all your clothes neatly stacked up, it’s also great to know that you don’t lose out on precious time for sight seeing and miniature tiffs between your hubby and you. Its also a great idea to stack up your undergarments on your right, as most people are right handed and you don’t have to hunt for these when you are getting ready for your treks. Along with clothes there are few necessary items that when taken along can be used at circumstances that are uncalled for. For example; a torch! You don’t necessarily carry this along only when you’re out on a Trek you can take it along anywhere you go… It always comes in handy.
A strong string, because given the best baggage in the world, (of course in case you’re lucky enough, this won’t happen with you!) are treated with utmost wrath by the porters. A strong rope or a string can get you out of the situation. I can also go on to say that if you have such a string made out of cloth, you’ll be lucky when your trusted shoe gets out of hand, especially as shoes are known to give away in places where for miles there are no cobblers. A string of this type can help your foot to be tied to the shoe, thereby allowing you to walk. Of course the next thing that really comes in handy is the handy lit containing needles and threads.
A pair of scissors comes in next. What follows are three essentials that you just cannot go without; nasal drops, incase you’re not acclimatized to the weather and you tend to catch one, an asprin, or a balm for headche, since many times when you go in search for cooler climates thinking that you don’t require a cap as it’s not so chilly, you tend to let the cool air around you affect you in many ways than one. By the time the asprin affects you, which in times like these take ages, at least a balm can soothe your pain to an extent. Stomachache pills come in next. If you are visiting tropical climate areas, it’s best to carry the anti-repellant along too, just for safety sakes. For those who are adventurous, might want to carry in their respective compasses.
I’ve noticed along with caps or hats (whichever be the case) that find their standard place, if you have a jacket, like the one used for fishing, it really helps, as you can dump in stuff right in there, without the fear of losing it. When you pack these nitty-gritty (s), you could dump these in a small pouch, helps in things not getting cluttered! Of course you’d know what all you needs to go in to that suitcase, these were just subtle points to help you pack, and yes, when you chose to throw in your shoes, make sure to sprinkle some deo spray the night before, that way even if they are closed for the next 8 hours or so, they’ll remain as fresh as your clothes. Bon Voyage!
