General: Weekend Sport's Update
This time around I poke fun at Joe Horn, college basketball, Rasheed Wallace, bull riding and more in this week's comedy sensation that's sweeping the nation -- the Weekend Sport's Update.
* New Orleans Saints receiver Joe Horn, after scoring a touchdown against the New York Giants, pulled a cellphone out from underneath the padding of the goalpost and started to talk on it. The Giants organization was severely offended. It is a touchy thing for the organization, because you know what is apparently underneath the Giants' goalposts -- Jimmy Hoffa.
* A study came out that said, on average, men say 10,000 words a day, women 25,000. Men think 10-12 minutes a day should be considered for important conversation, women 45-60. I came out with my own study determining that this is the most pointless study since the NFL's study that determined a team's chances of winning a game drops as they commit more turnovers.
* Former Missouri guard Ricky Clemons turned Boone County (Mo.) Correctional Facility inmate said that he was paid money while playing basketball at Missouri. He said this in a conversation to some of the wives of the Missouri coaching staff while they visited him in jail over the summer. At least 25,000 words were said between Clemons and the women, and the conversation must have been about 45-60 minutes long said local prison authorities.
* Michigan State lost to Kentucky at Ford Field in Detroit, 79-74, but they broke a record for most people at an NCAA basketball game with 75,000. So far, Ford Field has been where the Detroit Lions have gone 6-9, an Eminem concert has blown up and fallen apart because the sound system went dead, and now where a disappointing Spartans' loss has taken place. However, Ford Field officials are confident they can redeem themselves by holding a Mike Tyson fight there, and also by hosting the "Source" awards.
* Rasheed Wallace said the NBA wants young guys in the league because they are "dumb and dumber." Wallace alluded to the fact that he didn't think these young guys understand the ropes of the business. None of these young kids, however, ever considered getting a tattoo of a Skittles candy symbol on their body as an endorsement like Wallace once did. "These young kids aren't quite tasting the rainbow, nor are they bursting with fruit flavor," said Wallace.
* With all of the bull riding on ESPN lately, many people have wondered just who is crazier -- the guy who actually rides the wild bulls, or the man who ties the rope around the bull's testicles to make it go wild? If the same person who ties the rope is the also the bull rider, then it eliminates the confusion.
