Liz Hurley rejects £1.8m child support offer

Liz Hurley last night refused to accept a £1.8m deal that would see her former boyfriend Steve Bing paying £100,000 a year for the upbringing of their son Damian.

Ms Hurley, 37, said she refused to accept Mr Bing's support and said the money was "not wanted or welcome".

It comes after Mr Bing issued a statement in which he said a financial plan was agreed in the family division of the high court earlier yesterday, under which the millionaire film producer was to pay £100,000 a year in "financial provision" for Damian, born this April, until he reaches 18.

Mr Bing said he was "delighted" to make generous provision for the child, after publicly stating that he would financially support Damian if it was proved that he was the father. DNA tests showed in June that Mr Bing was indeed Damian's dad.

A spokeswoman for Mr Bing said the money would be paid into a trust and it was not for a mother to turn away financial support for a child.

However Ms Hurley issued a statement in which she said she had "always made it perfectly clear" that she didn't "want any financial help from him whatsoever" and had opposed legal proceedings on the maintenance issue.

Last year, when Ms Hurley said she was pregnant and that Mr Bing was the father, he cast doubt on her claim by issuing a statement saying that the couple were "not in an exclusive relationship when she became pregnant".
