NCAA: Knight Will Be in Vegas Next Year
I predict Bob Knight will be the next Head Basketball Coach at UNLLV next year.
Knight will be in Vegas Next Year
The University of Nevada Las Vegas will hire Bob Knight as the their new head coach next season. You heard it from me first. The Runnin‘ Rebels have had more recruiting violations under the guidance of Bill Bayno. He was supposed to be the savior of the program that dominated the West in the late 80s and early 90s under Coach Jerry Tarkanian.
Bayno was let go this past week and his top assistant is now running the program for the remainder of the year. Notice I said the remainder of the year because I have a feeling Knight will be out in the desert next year.
The program seemed to be heading in the right direction under Bayno. However, a poor start this year and the recent NCAA recruiting violations have set the program back a few years again. It will be the perfect situation for Knight. The program wants to bring in someone with strong discipline that will make sure his players graduate. Not only do they want discipline in the program, but they also want the man controlling the program to quit violating recruiting rules. They have had that happen a few too many times. Does this sound like a perfect fit for Knight or not? He has plenty of discipline, he graduates his players, and he has never been in trouble with the NCAA for recruiting violations.
As you can see, Bob Knight will be just what UNLV needs. On the other hand, UNLV will be just what Bob Knight needs. Knight will be able to add 20 or more wins to his career total each season. The competition the Runnin’ Rebels play is not quite as tough as what Knight was used to with the Hoosiers. Look at all the wins Jerry Tarkanian was able to collect out there. All he had to do was show up and chew on a towel.
The man who has been known to sin a few times will soon be in Sin City. The Thomas Mack Center will once again be filled to the rafters every game. Knight will get the victories he needs to be number one on the all-time wins list. The UNLV basketball program will graduate their players and stay out of the NCAA’s doghouse. With UNLV’s colors having red in them, Knight will continue to wear his famous red sweaters. It is almost perfect for everyone involved. The only thing that would make it better would be to schedule a game between Knight’s Runnin’ Rebels and the Hoosiers next year in Bloomington. Do you think that would be a sellout?
