Colin Farrell Slams Overdose Reports

On the heels of reports that the Irish actor had checked himself into a rehab facility, now there are reports that he overdosed on Friday.

There have been reports that Farrell overdosed in Uruguay and was rushed to the emergency room. A South American radio station reported that when he was treated for the overdose traces of marijuana, cocaine, and an "unidentified substance" was found in his blood. Farrell’s publicist, Danica Smith, has slammed rumors of an overdose, calling the claims rubbish. Of course, if the claims were true Smith would deny the rumors.

It was reported earlier this week that Farrell had checked into an undisclosed rehabilitation facility to deal with exhaustion and a dependency on prescription painkillers. Said Smith at the time, "No other comments to be made at this time." The prescription pain meds were reportedly prescribed to the actor after he injured his back. Hopefully, the stint in rehab will help Farrell kick whatever habits are haunting him.

The rumors of the overdose would certainly fit with the actor’s wild image. Since he shot to stardom there has been rumor after rumor of Farrell’s seemingly never-ending thirst for sex, drugs, and drinking. Farrell has revealed in the past that he went through a period of severe self-destruction and experimented with drugs including heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, speed, and marijuana before becoming famous. He also caught flak in 2003 by anti-drug campaigners for bragging about his past drug use in an interview. Said a representative of the National Drug Prevention Alliance at the time, "He should not be bragging about taking heroin. Farrell is a role model for children. If he thinks it is so cool he should go to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting and see the harsh reality."
