Silent Race

It's about a girl and her boyfriend and a tragedy…
You were here just today
Now you've left and gone away
The last thing you gave me
Was a promise ring
With a song that you sing
Last I heard your voice
It wasn't by your choice
You had called to say
It was your last day
I wondered what you meant
I didn't understand your comment
You said you wanted me
So I thought I'd go to see
The doctors at the place
Told me you crashed in a race
I tried to stay calm
I couldn't fool them at all
I slowly turned the knob
In a second...
My heart began to throb
I started to shiver
Soon I quivered
You told me to relax
That everything was fine
But then you began to whine
I knew it was the pain
From the crash
You told me "I love you."
It all happened so fast
The line that had been moving
Had beeped no more
That line went flat
And never came back
Now, as I lay a rose on your grave
I cry and think of that day
You laid in your bed sound asleep
Called...
And had me come on that last day
To say "I love you."
And soon to leave
