Mixed Signals Partners With HBO To Produce Interactive TV Boxing
HBO Boxing Event To Be First Live Interactive Program To Launch Simultaneously On AOLTV And WebTV
CULVER CITY, CA -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 11/28/00 -- Mixed Signals Technologies (MST), the world leader in advanced Interactive TV (ITV) technologies, services and content development, and Home Box Office (HBO), today announced that viewers with AOLTV and WebTV set-top boxes will be able to interact with a live boxing event via the TV set. This landmark event, which will air December 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HBO's late-night boxing series "Boxing After Dark," is the first interactive live TV program to launch simultaneously on both platforms. Future "Boxing After Dark" fights will continue to feature the interactive capabilities.
The December 1 match between middleweights Bernard Hopkins and Antwun Echols will incorporate interactive enhancements that will enable HBO boxing viewers with AOLTV or WebTV set-top boxes to participate during the event. Boxing fans will be able to score the fight round-by-round and match their scores against those of HBO judges as well as access fighters' stats, check out event rules, read up on fighters and trainers, plus much more.
"Mixed Signals' technology enables us to provide a richer and more engaging experience to our boxing fans," said Sarah Cotsen, vice president, HBO Interactive Ventures "Now even more fans can participate in a live fight event right from their living rooms."
"Analysts have anticipated the current growth in the ITV industry and we at Mixed Signals believe this particular breakthrough with HBO supports these predictions and exemplifies our significant efforts in advancing the interactive experience on all platforms," Said Alex Thompson, MST chief executive officer. "Live interactive television, particularly sports, will have a major impact on the industry and we look forward to applying our technology to a growing volume of interactive programming."
