Software Transforms PocketPC(TM) Hand-Held Computers Into Powerful Game-Side Sports Scoring And Statistics System
PLANO, TX -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 11/27/00 -- SportsPilot, Inc. today announced free availability of its ScorePad software for use in hand-held computers running the Microsoft PocketPC operating system. ScorePad transforms a PocketPC into a powerful, hand-held system for game-side scorekeeping and detailed statistics at basketball and soccer games. Additional sports interfaces are under development. The free software is available at SportsPilot's website, www.sportspilot.com

The free, downloadable version of ScorePad on the PocketPC supports input of teams, players, jersey numbers, team colors, and schedule information through the PocketPC's internal, visual keyboard and stylus. At game-time ScorePad is used to capture score and play-action information using an easy, intuitive visual interface and the stylus. ScorePad also provides instant access to the data captured during the game and generates real-time, on-the-fly statistics and shot charts that can be viewed right on the PocketPC's screen. Statistics generated can then be saved and output as a report in standard HTML format. When the PocketPC is connected and synchronized with a desktop computer, the HTML file is transferred to the deskside computer and can be printed or included in other documents. "We believe that ScorePad on the PocketPC hand-held computer represents the ideal future interface for effective capture and dissemination of sports data", says Mike Smoot, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at SportsPilot. "We want to make it available to the more than 100 million people involved in amateur sports."

An upgrade to the free version of ScorePad is available. The upgrade sets up a personal account for the user in SportsPilot's Internet-based system, and then allows synchronization of the PocketPC device directly with SportsPilot's web site. This upgraded service offers increased flexibility of input plus the ability to upload and download team, player, schedule and game data with SportsPilot's data servers. With the upgraded version SportsPilot's specialized software then converts the uploaded game data into detailed statistics and news-quality game articles, and automatically publishes it all on the web for free public viewing.
