Top 25 Football Rankings -- Week 11
Most states begin their high school football playoffs this week. Check out this week's poll to see where the teams stand.
The state of New Jersey was the state of the upset this week. Three of the four New Jersey teams ranked in the East Region were knocked off. Only 17th-ranked Elizabeth was spared from being upset, although just barely. St. Joseph Regional was the only nationally ranked team that was upset, falling to giant-killer Don Bosco Prep 28-7. The game was the second consecutive win over a previously unbeaten team by Bosco, who vaults into the East Region's Top Ten. The other New Jersey teams to lose were Wayne Hills, formerly 11th in the East, to Ramapo 31-21, and Holy Cross, formerly 18th in the East, who was hammered by Willingboro 58-30.
Across the nation, most teams survived without a challenge. The major exception was West Monroe, who was taken to overtime before foiling Ouachita's upset bid with a 20-14 win. Other teams tested this past week include St. Thomas Aquinas, Blue Springs, Strath Haven, and Blaine. Most states begin playoffs this week or next week, so the current Top 25 is not likely to resemble the Top 25 at the end of the season as many of the Top 25 teams (as well as regionally ranked teams) will be forced to face each other in state tournaments.
And now here is this week's Top 25:
