Ashton’s Party Boy Ways Cost Him
Sources say that Ashton Kutcher’s party boy ways and high profile may have cost him a role in a new Steven Soderbergh picture.
An insider said that Soderbergh questioned whether or not Kutcher "was up to par professionally" for the gig. Reportedly, Kutcher did audition for Soderbergh and was told he was being considered for a role in one of his upcoming films. The condition was that Kutcher remains out of the spotlight. Soderbergh reportedly told Ashton, "If I see you pose for the cover of one more magazine or photographed at more parties, I’ll take you off the picture."
Sources say Kutcher was serious about being in the film so he shied away from the usual Hollywood parties. Unfortunately, Soderbergh apparently was upset by the promotions for the second season of Punk’d and decided against using Kutcher in any of the films. A source says that Soderbergh felt Kutcher was "too much of a prankster" and that no one would take him seriously. Soderbergh’s camp denies the reports, but if there is any truth to them, it seems that maybe Ashton is the one who got "punk’d!"
Kutcher’s star has been shining very brightly lately. He has appeared on almost every magazine cover lately in addition to his gigs on That 70’s Show and Punk’d. Not to mention his well publicized romance with actress Demi Moore, who is 16 years his senior. With his silly roles as Kelso on That 70’s show and his turn in movies such as Dude, Where’s My Car and Just Married it remains to be seen if he has true acting ability. Sure, he pulls off dumb and silly quite nicely, but does he have range as an actor? Will he be able to pull off a "serious" role without everyone thinking of Kelso?
