The End of The Osbournes?
Sharon Osbourne reveals in a 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters that The Osbournes will not run for a third season.
According to Sharon Osbourne, The Osbournes will not run for a third season because "the cameras have become too intrusive." The episode, which airs on ABC Wednesday, focuses on the cancer stricken matriarch of America’s favorite dysfunctional family. Sharon talks openly of their lack of privacy, stating that, since her cancer diagnosis, she doesn’t even have the privacy to throw up on her own and ‘Ozzy can’t get drunk on his own.’ It would seem that Ozzy is returning to his alcoholic ways to help deal with Sharon’s illness.
Sharon also talks of how her children, Kelly and Jack, have become so famous that they have their own lawyers and managers. She lists all of these issues as factors in the family’s decision to make the second season their final season. The second installment kicks off November 26 on MTV and includes coverage of Sharon undergoing treatment for cancer and the adoption of a teenage boy, Robert. Van Toffler, MTV "honcho," caught wind of Sharon’s babblings to Babs and called her. Sharon then reportedly said, "You know you can’t believe everything I say." It sounds like the fate of the show is still undetermined, so we’ll all have one more reason to stay tuned.
Another statement was issued by Sharon stating she would fulfill the 20-episode contract with MTV, with ten episodes beginning November 26 and ten more next year. Catching Up with the Osbournes aired Monday, a look over the past year. With the marketing frenzy, the Osbournes are turning up everywhere. Kelly’s new CD, Shut Up! , will be released on November 26 and a DVD of the entire first season will be released March 4. They are at the height of their popularity, so why would they quit now? It can’t be from the lack of privacy…They gave that up when they originally invited the public into their home.
