EA SPORTS Exhibition Hoops Team Faces Seven Top-Ten Teams On College Basketball Exhibition TourREDWOOD CITY, CALIF -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 11/01/00 -- Electronic Arts ("EA"), the leader in interactive entertainment, is segueing into the real college basketball world with the 2000 EA SPORTS All-Stars, an exhibition basketball team that will go up against some of the best NCAA(R)basketball squads in the nation. The EA SPORTS All-Stars will be up against the toughest schedule around, pitting them against seven top-ten teams and 11 in the top-25.
The EA SPORTS All-Stars, made up of former college basketball and NBA players from around the nation, includes former University of Michigan and NBA standout Rumeal Robinson, 1997 Pac-10 Player of the Year Ed Gray formerly of California, and ex-North Carolina Tar Heel Ed Cota. The team will play 20 games in 21 days against the toughest competition NCAA basketball has to offer. In addition to the on-court action, EA SPORTS(TM) will offer fans the opportunity to suit up with the EA SPORTS All-Stars and watch the game from the best seat in the house, the bench! EA SPORTS campus representatives will be conducting numerous programs on campus to familiarize students with EA SPORTS, show the new PlayStation(R)2 lineup of titles and give everyone a chance to win EA SPORTS merchandise, or the grand prize of suiting up with the All-Stars. In addition to these "walk-ons," selected locations will feature special EA SPORTS players and local favorites such as former players of the university.
"We believe the EA SPORTS All-Stars will reinforce awareness of the EA SPORTS brand on college campuses, in dorm rooms, fraternity houses and student unions, as well as within the college community as a whole," said EA SPORTS Director of Marketing Glenn Chin. "We are really excited about the schedule because it's without a doubt the toughest and most exciting in the nation. Who else can claim that they'll play seven top-ten teams in three weeks?" Chin concluded, "We are going to have some great events on campus and at the arenas showcasing our new lineup of video games in an effort to make this exhibition tour interactive and fun for people of all ages."
