The Sheffield Steelers' unbeaten start to the Superleague season came to an end yesterday when they suffered a 3-2 defeat at the London Knights.
Two fights broke out in the opening two minutes, and Dennis Maxwell of London and Sheffield's Dion Darling were ejected in separate altercations in the first period.
The loss of Darling was particularly costly to the injury-hit Steelers - he had scored twice in Sheffield's 5-2 defeat of Nottingham Panthers the previous night.
Rich Bronilla scrambled in London's first before the captain Ian McIntyre skated in from the left wing to shoot past Joel Laing. Vezio Sacratini, the veteran Italian international, then secured Knights' first victory in seven matches.
Nottingham Panthers enjoyed a comfortable 7-3 victory over Ayr Scottish Eagles.
