Kimberly Stewart Calls off Engagement

The couple’s reps said in a statement, "It was just too soon to enter into a lifelong commitment. It is better to have a brief engagement than a short marriage. The couple continue to share their time together and remain open to whatever the future may hold." The 26-year old Stewart and 19-year old Torreiro had only been dating for two-months before he popped the big question and slapped some fat bling on her finger, so I can see how it may come as a huge surprise that they have called it off.

The two became engaged on November 16, with the Laguna Beach star presenting Stewart with a $300,000 five-carat Neil Lane ring. Reportedly, Stewart and Torreiro couldn’t wait to show off her engagement ring to socialite sisters Paris and Nicky Hilton. Stewart was overheard saying, "It’s almost too big. It’s beautiful!" Almost too fake! Who knows if this was just some random publicity stunt trying to further each of their "careers"? Whatever the case, this is Stewart’s second failed engagement this year. If she hurries, she may be able to rope in a third before the year-ends!

Stewart’s dreams of replacing Nicole Richie as Hilton’s sidekick on The Simple Life have been destroyed since it has been reported that Richie and Hilton will appear in the fourth installment of the show. The show was dropped from FOX’s lineup but has been picked up by E! Entertainment Television and the ten-episode season is slated to air in Spring 2006.
