The Bachelor a Pro at Proposing
Seems The Bachelor’s Aaron Buerge has had a bit of practice at popping the question, since he has already been engaged once.
It has been reported that Buerge once proposed to a 21-year old student and model, Valerie Zellmer, when he was 26. Coincidentally (or perhaps not so coincidentally), it was in the same fashion he proposed to Helene Eksterowicz on the finale of The Bachelor – on bended knee near the ocean. Buerge ultimately got cold feet and called off the planned May 2001 nuptials with Zellmer.
Aaron and Helene have had little time to spend with each other since the show finished taping in late October. One has to wonder if a true and healthy relationship is even possible within the contrived atmosphere of The Bachelor. Helene certainly doesn’t seem to be that enthusiastic about spending the rest of her life with Buerge, and he may be wondering if he in fact made the correct choice. Maybe their recent time apart and her viewing the show for the first time - seeing Aaron with other women in very intimate settings - left a bad taste in her mouth.
The original Bachelor pairing of Alex Michel and Amanda Marsh hasn’t seemed to progress very much and there is no hint that it might progress further. Next up is The Bachelorette, where it’s the ladies turn to watch the men cry, backstab, and manipulate their way to "victory." Trista Rehn, runner-up from the first Bachelor, will face off against 25 men for six episodes starting in January. Ah…there is nothing like true love.
