YOUTH SPORTS: Dreams of Glory

You don't want to miss this!
Yesterday, November 24th, marked the end of a journey for the best football teams in the state of Minnesota.

The Prep Bowl, held every year the day after Thanksgiving, is always a showcase for the wonderful plethora of talent that the state of Minnesota has to offer.

However, the Prep Bowl is more then just a championship, it is a realization for Minnesota’s best that they have achieved their goal, winning a state championship.

For those lucky few who did, it is an experience they will no doubt cherish for years to come. Their blood, sweat, and tears are the price they must pay for their chance at glory. I am sure that these lucky few agree that it was all worth it.

I imagine that there are few emotions, few feelings that can conquer that of running onto the turf at the H.H.H. Metrodome upon winning a state football championship, and this is a feeling that I whole-heartedly wish to experience. The pride that is felt, not only for the school, but for the community and team, must be overwhelming.

I am the manager of the Rochester Mayo football team, and I would feel truly blessed if given this opportunity. Although our team came up short this year, I believe that with teamwork, hard work and determination, anything is possible. Tomorrow is a new day.

Although I feel that the most important reason to play is for pride, and that no recognition should be necessary, other then that of your teammates. I must admit that the dream of running onto the field and hoisting the trophy in the air for all to see is quite an enticing one for me, as I know it is for many others.

So, until next year, to all the victors, you played with class and are well-deserving of your honor. To those who didn’t make it this year, there is a lot of glory and honor in your accomplishments as well.

To all who work hard to achieve anything, be it related to sports, or a completely different matter, I offer these words:

Remember, never stop working hard, never lose sight of your goals.

Never stop wanting.

Never stop dreaming, Dreams of Glory.
