Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey Happy or Not?

The latest report that their marriage is on the rocks is currently competing with reports that state the couple is "stronger than ever." It was reported that the "newlyweds" showed up at an event at a Los Angeles hotspot on November 16 looking every bit of miserable behind their forced smiles. An onlooker said they "weren’t convincing anyone of the happiness of their marriage." The source went on to say, "They posed for photos together, but there was not much talking. She was sitting on one side of the booth talking to Eva Mendes the whole time, and he was on the other hanging out with his bodyguard."

On the flip side, it was reported that the toothy twosome hit another bash that same evening looking very much the happy couple and holding hands. Simpson reportedly said, "We are very much in love. He is my soul mate." It has also been widely rumored that Simpson is expecting the couple’s first child. Reportedly, the clues being Simpson’s increased food intake, her healthy glow, and the fact that she’s "hanging on Nick like they’re on a second honeymoon."

There have also been conflicting reports about Nick’s 32nd birthday. One tab reports that Nick has a "perfect hometown" birthday in Cincinnati on November 9 with his lovely bride right "by his side." Another mag claims that his 2nd birthday celebration took place on November 11 in Los Angeles and was less than perfect and was "typical Simpson and Lachey of late: forced, awkward, and with no trace of marital harmony." Fans will just have to pick which story they believe until the couple actually publicly announces their demise.
