ASPCA Sets Up Disaster Relief Fund for CA Animal Groups

by Patricia Collier

The ASPCA has set up a disaster relief fund for animal shelter and rescue groups who depleted their resources during the recent wildfires in Southern California.

The fires destroyed more than 750,000 acres and the ASPCA National Shelter Outreach (NSO) stands at the ready to help the many animal groups who worked tirelessly throughout the ordeal.

NSO has already been in contact with many shelters and rescues to determine their needs for disaster relief.

"We have found through experience that the shelters won't know the disaster relief costs until a few weeks into the clean-up efforts," said Julie Morris, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA's NSO department.

"Most shelters have responded that they will contact the ASPCA once they are able to determine their level of financial need."

Groups not already contacted by NSO may do so by emailing outreach@aspca.org.
