Pierce Brosnan: People’s Sexiest Man Alive

People Magazine has named James Bond star Pierce Brosnan the Sexiest Man Alive for 2001. Brosnan married his girlfriend and the mother of his two youngest children, Keely Shaye Smith, on August 4th. The couple was married in Ireland and the reception was on the grounds of a 13th-century Ashford Castle. The couple resides in a ranch house overlooking the Pacific in Malibu with their sons Dylan Thomas, 4, and Paris Beckett, 9 months. Brosnan, whose father walked out on his family when he was 2, is very involved with his children and plays an active role in raising them.

He has an older son, Sean, with his first wife Cassandra Harris. They were a very close and loving family, but Cassie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1987. She passed away in Brosnan’s arms in 1991. He has said the healing process was painful and he threw himself into his work. Brosnan met Smith in Mexico about two years after Cassie’s death. Smith says she knows why women find him sexy. She was quoted as saying it is because he "likes and appreciates women."

Brosnan and family are currently staying in Dublin while he is filming Evelyn. This is the third movie he has produced with his production company, Irish Dreamtime. Julianna Marguiles costars in the movie with him. She was quoted on People.com as saying, "When you meet him, he’ll immediately start talking about his kids and about Keely-they’re his priority. And when you see a gorgeous man, holding hands with his wife and holding his baby, there’s nothing more sexy in the world."
