Christina Aguilera vs. Britney Spears

Christina Aguilera reportedly rebuffed Britney Spears saying she is not a "proper" artist and that she lip syncs.
Christina Aguilera bitterly called Britney Spears a "fake" and claims that she has no real talent. Aguilera said about their performance at this years MTV Video Music Awards that Spears had to kiss Madonna at the awards because she needed a gimmick, "These people aren't artists, they're just performers - fake and superficial, like the entire event." Wait a minute…didn’t Christina kiss Madonna, too? Maybe she is just mad because the Britney-Madonna kiss got more play than the kiss she shared with the Material Girl. Aguilera also said Spears "mimed" the performance.

Their rivalry dates back to when they were both Mousketeers on the Mickey Mouse Club and continued when they each were up for a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2000. Spears lost out to Aguilera. By far, Christina is viewed as the more vocally talented of the two. Since Britney has landed on the pop scene, she has faced speculation that she lip-syncs and does not have a strong voice. She denies rumors of lip-syncing, although does allow that the back-up vocals and music do help because she dances so much.

As her career has progressed, Spears has become nothing more than breathy vocals masked by involved and erotic dance routines. On her new album In the Zone, she has adopted more adult lyrics, but her voice is so processed that you can hardly tell it is her singing. Regardless of her vocal accomplishments, she has not strayed far from the spotlight. She has also adopted a more "dirrty" image a la Christina. Maybe that is why Christina is so mad…she has more talent than Britney but Britney seems to market what she has pretty well! Perhaps Christina should stop complaining and concentrate on her own career!
