Fantasy Football: Starters For This Week
Here are the players you should start this week.
This week there aren’t that many great games. That means that there are a lot of teams that are going to run up the score against their opponent. Which also means that your fantasy football teams will rack up major points. There are tons of players that will probably break out this week, but here are the players that people may over look to have a good week.
Quarterbacks:
Drew Bledsoe: Even with a bad thumb, Bledsoe should still put up great numbers this week. Last week against the Browns, Bledsoe threw for over 200 yards with a very bad thumb. This week he goes up against another bad defense in the Bengals.
Hint: Troy Aikman threw for over 300 yards last week against the Bengals.
Trent Dilfer: I know it sounds crazy to start Dilfer this week. But last week against a great Titans defense, Dilfer threw three touchdowns. This week the Ravens play the Cowboys, and that should be a great matchup for the Ravens offense. Look for Shannon Sharpe to have a big day.
Jeff George: Brad Johnson is expected to be ready to go next week. To many people’s surprise George hasn’t put up a great game yet, to show that he should stay on the field. This should be the week that George proves his mark, as he goes up against the Rams defense.
Running Backs:
Lamar Smith: Quietly, Lamar Smith has been one of the best fantasy football players this season. The Dolphins pound the football, and it is Smith that receives all the carries. Smith has put up some great games the last four weeks, and it all started against the Jets when he had an incredible game. The Dolphins play the Jets again, and we all know that Miami has revenge on their mind.
Kevin Faulk: This is probably the first time this season, that I would consider starting Faulk. The Bengals have done a nice job on defense, but they have fallen a part the last few weeks. Faulk should be able to break off a couple of runs, and if he doesn’t then it is time to drop him.
Jerome Bettis: Bettis is the Steelers offense, and it seems like the bus has been back on the road lately. The Jaguars won’t be a detour to the bus, so look for Bettis to have another solid game.
Wide Receivers
Albert Connell: Connell is the only deep threat for the Redskins, and he should at least get over 100 yards and a touchdown against the Rams.
Keyshawn Johnson: Johnson has started to finally come along in the Buccaneers offense, and this week should be no different against the Chicago Bears.
Marvin Harrison: Harrison has been held in check the last few weeks. Expect that to come to an end this week, because the Colts play the Packers. Green Bay hasn’t seen a receiver like Harrison all year long, and they will have a hard time adjusting to Harrison’s speed and ability to get open.
