Some people are speculating that the arrival of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s son, James Wilke, just might save their fledgling marriage. With rumors running rampant, beginning about a year a half ago, that their marriage was on the rocks it seems that the couple has grown closer since her pregnancy and the subsequent birth of their son. James Wilke Broderick made his debut on October 28 in New York.

The rumors that threatened to destroy their marriage became prevalent while Broderick was co-starring on Broadway in "The Producers." With him appearing on stage almost every night and with Parker’s commitment to Sex and the City, the couple was often apart. It became more obvious that the couple was having problems when Broderick began showing up all over town partying with his beautiful (and married) co-star, Cady Huffman, and Parker was reportedly seen snuggling with her then co-star, John Corbett. Rumors of intense arguments and jealousy were all over the tabloids. The fact that Parker forgot to thank Broderick during her acceptance speech when she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy became tabloid fodder fueling the rumors.

Sources say that Parker seemed depressed and unsure of her marriage. Reportedly, after the September 11 tragedy, Parker and Broderick realized how much they loved each other and put more of an effort into saving their marriage. Parker announced her pregnancy in April. That seemed to quiet the rumor mill on reports that the couple was breaking up…then there are those who wonder if Broderick really is the father of the baby…

If the reports were true that Parker and Broderick were having marital problems, do you think the baby will make a difference?
Yes, it will bring them together
No, it may help briefly but will not cure any real problems
The added pressure of raising a child will make their problems worse
