Golf: Augusta National remains true to itself.
After another failed attempt at membership at Augusta National, women activists around the country are looking for blood.
Another day, another failed attempt at membership for females at the illustrious Augusta National Country Club.
This is no surprise. For nearly 100 years the golf club has been a haven for men. A mythical place that one could only hope to become a member. You have to be asked to join. You can't walk up to the door and request a membership. Actually you can't walk up to the door at all unless you are a member.
I am not a sexist. I'm not a bigot. I am simply telling it like it is. Women have been kept out of the club for as long as it has existed and that should not stop now. Perhaps it is not politically correct to exclude women, but it is tradition and traditions should not be broken.
There are women's golf clubs out there that exclude men. So why is it so wrong that men have there own little piece of heaven?
The reason is simple. Sometimes activists choose to go after a hopeless cause to attract attention to the problem. Feminists attack the men running the club for being bigots. This is simply not true. Why have they waited this long to protest so heavily. Is it because they want an exclusive place to golf? And why aren't LPGA players speaking out? Is it because they don't find the exclusive club to be offensive?
This little war between Washington D.C. feminists and the club's management seems to have become a schoolyard war. Side A wants in, Side B says no. Side A then says "well I didn't want to join your stupid club anyway." Side B then replies "Yes you did. You're just jealous." And it goes on and on at a vomit inducing pace until the public simply throws up its hands and walks away.
Bottom line, ladies. This subject is closed at least for the next few years. When it is finally resolved don't expect preferential treatment. You are stepping on the toes of a age-old men's club and you know how cranky old men can get.
