Motor Racing: Mansell Leads Old Glories Back on the Grid
Nigel Mansell has joined several former World Champions in the inaugural Grand prix Masters race in South Africa.
Former world champions including Nigel Mansell, Alan Jones and Emerson Fittipaldi return to the track tomorrow for the inaugural Grand Prix Masters race at Kyalami, South Africa.
The organiser, Scott Poulter, has said he was inspired by the success of seniors events in golf and tennis. Initial scepticism about the series dissipated after the drivers tested the cars, with their 600 brake horse power and 200mph capability.
Another veteran, Derek Warwick, said: "I didn't believe anybody could put these drivers together in a racing series. Then I tested the car and I was blown away." Also coming out of retirement at the age of 82, to commentate, is Murray Walker.
