Mariah’s Money Woes
It has been reported that singer Mariah Carey is facing financial problems and needs to curb her spending habits.
Mariah Carey just can't seem to get her career or money in order. Reports are that the singer is financially strapped after spending most of the money she made when her $80 million Virgin Records contract was bought out in 2001. Sources say that of the approximately $28 million she received from Virgin, she ended up with about $16 million after taxes. Apparently, the "diva" that hasn't done anything noteworthy since 1999's "Heartbreaker" is still living like a diva and blowing all of her money.
A source revealed, "Mariah doesn’t have a lot of cash left. She got about $16 million after taxes, but went through a lot of it. She has a hairdresser and make-up artist who she keeps on a regular basis and they cost $7,200 a day. She won't leave home without getting her hair and make-up done." Reportedly, she also pays someone to follow her around at events with a box of tissues so she can blot her face. Who needs that? $7,200 a day for a personal hairdresser and make-up artist? A personal face blotter? I thought the Personal Umbrella Handlers were a bit excessive…
Carey is reportedly set to release her tenth studio album under the label Def Jam sometime next year. She had better hope that this album does better than in recent years. Carey has suffered a number of setbacks in her career. In July 2001 she suffered a much-publicized mental and emotional breakdown and was subsequently hospitalized. She then suffered a relapse and landed back in the hospital, citing mental exhaustion. Her career went off track and she has not been able to reinvent herself or her career. Who knows…maybe this next album will be successful enough to keep her personal face blotter in business!
