Snoop Dogg Quits Smoking Marijuana

Snoop told "Access Hollywood" that he decided one morning that he "didn’t need it anymore." Snoop’s whole image has centered on his penchant for smoking dope as his recent concert tour titles reflect, with names like "Up In Smoke" and "Puff, Puff, Pass." With his 30th birthday around the corner on October 20, maybe he is just growing up.

One has to wonder if this has any connection to his cameo in "A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie" being cut. Snoop was supposed to do a rap with Kermit the Frog but wound up on the cutting room floor. A statement from the Henson Co. stated, "Because of production reasons, about half an hour of footage originally planned for use...including a brief appearance by Snoop Dogg, will not be appearing in the final cut." Rumor has it that it is because of his work in another film that is due out this year called Diary of a Pimp being put out by Hustler. Directed by Snoop, the unrated semi-autobiographical film stars Snoop as the "bossman of several hos" and includes adult stars India, Taylor Saint Claire, and Nikki Fairchild. Chelsea Blue co-stars as a journalist investigating Snoop’s life.

It seems that Snoop’s foray into Muppet-land and giving up smoking pot is all a part of a lifestyle make over for Snoop. He says that he wants to be a better inspiration and role model for his children. And we all know the way to a kid’s heart is through Kermie…and Larry Flint?! One can only hope for an Oscar nod for his performance in Pimp.
