Newton fit to play Saints
Terry Newton has been named in the Wigan team for Friday's Super League final eliminator at St Helens after recovering from injury.
The Great Britain hooker dislocated his elbow in last Friday's win against Leeds, but Wigan's coach Stuart Raper said: "He had it put straight back in and I'm confident he will be fit for Friday."
Newton will not be the only Wigan player carrying a knock with their Australian stand-off Julian O'Neill also included despite limping off with a knee injury against Leeds.
Batley's impressive Northern Ford Premiership campaign was recognised at an awards ceremony last night when their half-back Glen Tomlinson was named player of the year. Tony Smith, whose Huddersfield team face Leigh in Saturday's grand final, was named coach of the year, and Doncaster's Jonny Woodcock won the young player award.
