Yasmine Bleeth Spends the Night in Jail
Yasmine Bleeth, 33, failed a roadside sobriety test after swerving onto a median strip in Romulus, a Detroit suburb on September 12.
Bleeth and her boyfriend, local club owner Paul Cerrito Jr., were involved in the incident shortly after 10 p.m. Local police found four syringes suspected of containing cocaine residue in her purse. Bleeth spent the night in jail and was released the next morning.
Her spokeswoman, Leslie Sloane Zelnik was quoted in People magazine as saying, "She knows she made a mistake and she is in the process of getting her life back together."
This is not the first time Bleeth has faced drug addiction. By her second season on Nash Bridges, it was obvious she had a drug problem. She had lost weight and was missing work regularly. Last December, Bleeth checked into Promises, a Malibu rehab clinic, to help deal with cocaine addiction. There she met, Cerrito, a fellow patient who has two prior drug convictions. Shortly thereafter, he moved in with Bleeth. Her four-year relationship with actor Richard Grieco ended in early 2000.
The former model got her start in show business in 1985 on the soap opera, Ryan’s Hope. She is best known for her roles on Baywatch and Nash Bridges, as well as her work in Lifetime Television movies. Luckily, no one was harmed in the incident. Bleeth could face up to seven years in jail on narcotics and motor vehicle charges. Friends hope this has been a "wake up call" and that Bleeth is ready to get her life under control again. Zelnik is quoted as saying, "She realizes she has been given a second chance."
