Lions need to apologize for Monday Night performance

The whole Lions organization needs to express their regret for the terrible game they gave the St. Louis Rams on Monday. The NFL, NFL fans, ABC network, and most of all, the Detroit Lion fans deserve to be apologized to.
If Marty Mornhinweg and Matt Millen have not apologized for the poor performance of the Detroit Lions yet, I will do it for them.

I'm sorry to all the fans of the NFL who look forward to Monday Night Football to provide a good finish to the week of NFL games. The Lions were laughable at times, pathetic at other times, but most of all, not very competitive against the St. Louis Rams.

People who just enjoy football with no real rooting interest for either team knew there was a good chance that a blowout could occur on Monday. The M & M boys could have put some type of team on the field with a good game plan to, at least, make the game competitive for the viewers. They did not, and hopefully will apologize.

The ABC network schedules games so that the viewing audience will stay tuned for the whole three hours or so and watch two teams play an exciting game.

Well, they got one team, the Rams, who played like an NFL team should play. They made great plays on offense and defense. They had a quarterback who knows what he is doing and minimizes mistakes while making big plays. The Rams' defense came up with interceptions and fumble recoveries when they needed them. In other words, the Rams held up their end of the game to make ABC happy.

The Lions did not. Throwing interceptions at all the wrong times, having defensive lapses, and having two quarterbacks who, put together, can't even come close to having half the talent Kurt Warner has. ABC should not put the Lions back on Monday Night Football for several years, not just to punish the team, but also to insure a good game for the rest of the NFL fans.

Detroit Lion fans need to be apologized to by the Lion organization for putting this inept, sorry excuse for a team on the field.

Coaching changes happen quite frequently, but the results do not change. I will always be a Lion fan, even though they really have won nothing in my lifetime. I just think that the paying customers who went to the Silverdome to watch the game should be told that this will not happen again. But, I suppose, Mornhinweg can't make this promise that he is not sure he can keep.

Starting out 0 and 3 pretty much sets the tone for the terrible season ahead. Without a leader and a quarterback, the Lions are heading for disaster. Lion fans are getting used to the failures of the organization. I just wish we would be commended for staying Lion fans and get an apology from the Lion coach or GM for embarrassing us on national television.
