Newlyweds Return

Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, the reality show starring Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, has been renewed for another season.
The hilarious antics of newlyweds Nick and Jessica’s first year of marriage has been caught on video and the season finale will air on October 21, five days before their one-year wedding anniversary. Watching the newlyweds live life like regular folk (yeah, right) has become one of America’s guilty pleasures. Simpson, while beautiful and talented, proves that she is not as bright as the average bear. The past season must have been a real eye-opener for her; she learned that Chicken of the Sea is tuna fish and that buffalo wings are not actually buffalo meat. She learned the correct way to pronounce platypus (not "Plat-a-ma-puss") and what rigor mortis (rigor who?) is.

Hubby Nick Lachey, a former member of the boy band 98 Degrees, has helped educate his young bride on looking at the credit card receipt before signing them and how to do her own laundry. He seems the ever-loving husband despite her constant whining and gaseous pursuits he seems to find endearing. One has to wonder if the celebs involved ever watch themselves on TV. Does Jessica Simpson realize that people are watching partly to see what other idiotic statement may escape from her lips?

Whatever the case, it seems that Nick and Jessica found their niche in the world of reality shows. Watching The Osbournes is hard enough without trying to decipher what is being said between Ozzy’s incoherent mumblings and the constant bleeps. And trying to get through an episode of The Anna Nicole show is no treat in its own right. Watching Newlyweds is almost a welcome comic relief, without Nick & Jessica actually trying to be funny. Hopefully Simpson won’t disappoint next season.

What is your favorite Jessica Simpson-ism?
"Isn’t it plata-ma-pus?"
"I think I need to go, um…drop some kids in the pool."
"Is there, like, maids for, like, celebrities?"
"Is this chicken or tuna? I mean, I know the can says Chicken of the Sea…but its tuna, right?"
