Tennessee Titans - Steve McNair
Tennessee Titans Steve McNair is coming back from early season injuries but by the looks of last Sunday, it looks as if he is back.
One week ago, Steve McNair came off the bench late in the game to lead the Tennessee Titans to a comback win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. This week, McNair continued to shine, as he led the Titans to another victory.
McNair came out firing on the teams first possession, and took them 80 yards for their first touchdown of the day. Two key plays in the Titans' opening drive, were on long passes by Mcnair. The first was on third down, just three plays into the game. On 3rd and 5, McNair hit Derrick Mason for an 18 yard gain, to keep the drive alive. The drive took almost six-and-a-half minutes, but it only took nine plays. Mcnair finished it off with a 14 yard pass to Frank Wycheck, and the Titans had the lead 7-0.
McNair didn't stop after the teams opening drive. He led the Titans to the endzone in each of their first three possessions.
Not only did McNair light up the sky, but he also carried the ball four times for 21 yards, (The Giants as a team only had 24 yards rushing) and twice extended drives with carries for first downs. Both first downs conversions were on third down plays, one 3rd and 10, the other 3rd and 8.
McNair finished the day 24 of 35 for 293 yards and 3 touchdowns. Games like this one are the kind that helped the Titans to Superbowl XXXIV. If McNair keeps playing the way he has the last few weeks, there is a good chance that the Titans will be back in the big game come January. Games like this are what Super Stars are made of, and why Steve McNair is our Player of the Week.
