Cheryl Tiegs Single Again
Cheryl Tiegs’ fourth husband, Rod Stryker, filed for divorce and custody of their 15-month old twin boys on October 8th.
The ‘70s supermodel and her yoga-teacher husband, Rod Stryker, seemed to have it all - a new marriage and beautiful twin boys, Jared and Theo. The couple met in 1997 when Tiegs took one of Stryker’s yoga classes and were married the following year. Tiegs already had a son from her marriage to Gregory Peck’s son, Tony, but Stryker wanted to be a father. The twins were conceived by in-vitro fertilization and carried to term by a surrogate mother whom the couple refused to name.
Tiegs, 54, seemed to have hit the jackpot with her forty-four-year-old fourth husband, but on October 8th, sources say she was shocked to learn he wanted out of their marriage. The couple had been attending marriage counseling sessions, but Tiegs thought they could work things out. Stryker apparently felt differently and filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. He is seeking sole custody of the twins. Tiegs is quoted in People magazine as saying, "He {Stryker} just decided he doesn’t want to work on it." Tiegs is confident the boys will remain in her custody.
Currently, the couple is living in their Bel Air mansion, although they are staying in separate areas. It seems that the fourth time’s not the charm either. Tiegs was also married to director Stan Dragoti and photographer Peter Beard. She divorced her third husband, Tony Peck, in 1995 and they have a 10-year-old son, Zack. An associate of Tiegs and Stryker was quoted as saying they weren’t surprised. "I think she agreed to the surrogacy because of Rod. I think she thought she was done with having children."
