Getty Trust Investigates Claims Over Looted Art
The J Paul Getty Trust has set up a committee to look into claims that its Los Angeles museum bought looted art and misused tax-exempt funds.
The museum's former antiquities curator, Marion True, awaits trial in Italy over 40 archaeological treasures stolen from private collections or dug up without a permit.
The Los Angeles Times has also reported that the trust's chief executive, Barry Munitz, frequently travelled first class with his wife at the expense of the Getty fund, which also paid for his Porsche, in apparent violation of the trust's charity status.
