Ashlee’s Oops & Ahs

Ashlee Simpson suffered a very embarrassing moment on Saturday Night Live over the weekend when it was revealed she was lip-syncing.
Singer Ashlee Simpson made it through her first performance on SNL singing "Pieces of Me" and was ready for her second go round to perform "Autobiography" when things went disastrously wrong. She bopped out on stage and her voice started singing "Pieces of Me" again. Strangely, her microphone was by her side and her mouth was closed. Simpson stared desperately at her band before breaking into a bizarre high-kicking dance and then bolting from the stage. At the end of the show, Simpson apologized for the incident and promptly blamed her band. "I feel so bad," Simpson said. "My band started playing the wrong song. I didn’t know what to do so I thought I’d do a hoe-down." Oh-kay…

Simpson blamed her band. Her record company blamed a computer glitch. Her father blamed acid reflux. So which was it really? Not that we’ll ever know what really happened, but it’s always better to lie to the public than to be honest. What made the incident even more embarrassing for Simpson was her recent thoughts on lip-syncing in an interview. She said, "I’m totally against it and offended by it. I’m going to let my real talent show, not just stand there and dance around. Personally, I’d never lip-sync. It’s just not me." Oops, Ashlee, careful what you say in interviews.

Simpson did somewhat redeem herself at Monday night’s Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas by singing "Autobiography" absolutely live. She was teased throughout the show by the hosts Carson Daly and Molly Sims, but seemed to win over fans that started the night booing the singer. Surely this is just the first of many embarrassing moments to come. Older sister Jess got used to them, so will Ashlee.
