Preview - Sacramento Kings
The Kings resigned Chris Webber and traded for Mike Bibby, but will this be enough to finally get them past the Lakers.
Sacramento Kings
2000 Record: (56-26), 2nd in Pacific Division
Player Losses: Jason Williams, Nick Anderson, Jon Barry, Art Long.
Player Additions: Mike Bibby, Mateen Cleaves, Gerald Wallace, Brent Price, Maurice Jeffers.
Projected Starting Five:
Center - Vlade Divac (7'1" 260 lbs.)
Forward - Chris Webber (6'10" 250 lbs.)
Forward - Paja Stojakovic (6'9" 230 lbs.)
Guard - Doug Christie (6'6" 205 lbs.)
Guard - Mike Bibby (6'1" 190 lbs.)
The resigning of Chris Webber will keep the Kings in title contention for years to come. They also kept Doug Christie, who is a good defender against shooting guards. Perhaps the best move for the Kings was trading Jason Williams for Mike Bibby. Williams was too careless with the ball and hardly played in the fourth quarter of playoff games. Bibby will bring some much needed stability on offense and defense. He is a solid defender and has great play making ability without being reckless and flashy. The move for Bibby will make them a much better team, but it may not be enough to dethrone the L.A. Lakers.
