Mariah Carey to Appear on 'Ally'

After a trying year both on and off the stage, Mariah Carey is going to try her hand at television acting, and everyone is waiting to see her debut.
'Ally McBeal' has become a breeding ground for crossover entertainers to try their hand at regular television. After Robert Downey Jr.'s wildly successful run on the show ended with him returning to a rehabilitation center and being, at least temporarily, written off the show, 'Ally' is looking for some fresh talent to fill the void. Mariah Carey seems to be a curious choice, to say the least. Carey has struggled throughout this year, both prior to and following the release of her film, 'Glitter', and its accompanying soundtrack. The press pounded both the film and the track and Carey's intermittent stays at mental health facilities have only served to heighten speculation that the R & B beauty may be falling from her perch.

In addition to Carey's upcoming cameo as a key figure in a matchmaking lawsuit, she will also perform one of her new singles from the 'Glitter' soundtrack. In keeping with the crossover trend, Jon Bon Jovi has been enlisted to serve as a recurring potential love interest for Ally during several upcoming episodes this season. Bon Jovi has successfully made the transition to an acting career, with several quality performances already to his credit.

Also in line to appear on David E. Kelly's Monday night chick flick are Elton John and Jacqueline Bissett. No word as yet on the roles that will be played by these two heavy hitters, but the producers at 'Ally' always seem to find interesting roles for their guest stars to fill.
