Good round for most home teams in Major League Rugby

By and large the latest round of Major League Rugby action panned out pretty well for the home teams with all bar one of them winning their games.

In Tri Series Five, the Chicago Griffins were matched up against the visiting Woodlands club from Texas and the Griffins had things fairly much their own way. The Chi-town team ran out comfortable 37-6 winners.

The result reversed a decision in Woodlands' favor earlier in the year when the two faced off in Houston and it landed Chicago at the top of Group Five ahead of Woodlands on a points for and against aggregate.

Another Texan side, the Dallas Reds, traveled to Missouri to tackle the high-flying St Louis Bombers in Tri Series Seven and after it was all said and done probably wished they hadn't made the trip.

The Bombers, who've been piling up the points against their opponents all season, continued the trend by spanking the winless Reds 52-22. St Louis remains unbeaten on the season at 4-0.

Elsewhere, San Francisco team Olympic hosted southern California rivals the Back Bay Sharks of Orange County and managed to sneak over the line with their noses in front. The Bay Area club outlasted Back Bay 30-21. The win puts Olympic into top spot on the Tri Series Nine merit table.

And the final game of the round, in Tri Series Eight, proved to be the one bump in the road with the home town Atlanta Renegades going down to the visiting Austin Blacks. The advantage of playing at home in the peachtree state of Georgia eluded the Renegades who lost to the Texans 41-13.

Austin had already stitched up Group Eight before the game and has moved to an unblemished 4-0 on the season.
