Seventh Harry Potter Book to be Final
Rumors that there will be an eighth installment of the Harry Potter book series are false according to J.K. Rowling’s agent.
Since the Harry Potter books have become such a major hit, we have been promised seven installments of the books by J. K. Rowling. Rumors have leaked that there may be an eighth installment in the series. Rowling’s agent has squashed those rumors. Neil Blair, of Christopher Little literary agents, has been quoted as saying; "The plan is to have only seven books in the series. There is no truth to the rumors."
With four books written and a fifth on the way, Rowling has become a multi-millionaire almost over night. Add to that the first movie installment of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with a second big screen feature film hitting theaters on November 15 and Rowling has become the hottest commodity since sliced bread. Rowling is set to write seven books with a reported seven-movie deal in effect. Rumors began leaking to the tabloids when Warner Bros. registered three titles as trademarks—Harry Potter and the Alchemist’s Cell, Harry Potter and the Chariots of Light and Harry Potter and the Pyramids of Furmat.
Since the news broke, message boards across the Internet have been flooded with the hopes of Harry Potter fanatics. Warner Bros. has not returned calls to find out the origin of the newly registered titles. Are they alternate names for the sixth and seventh books or are they possible names for yet another book or books? Whatever the case may be, Rowling is sitting on a goldmine. The first four books have sold over 175 million copies and the first film has grossed upwards of $900 million since last November. Whatever happens now…Rowling is set for life.
