Pats sink the Dolphins in OT

Wow! Can you get a game any better than the one the Patriots and Dolphins played this Sunday? It was definitely a big morale booster for New England, that's for sure. Here's the story.
Wow, wow, wow!

Can you get a game any better than what I just witnessed? Can you have a game with this much drama and emotion?

This has to be a HUGE moral booster with the Cleveland Browns coming town next weekend. Gillette Stadium is going to be a zoo, and I will be there to let you in on all of the action.

Once again the Patriots D manhandled the Dolphins offense with the exception of TE Randy McMichael (8 rushes/102 yards) and kept RB Ricky Williams (27 carries for 94 yds) quiet.

DE Richard Seymour (4 tackles), S Rodney Harrison (12t and 1 forced fumble ), and CB Tyrone Poole (3t and 1 interception) came to play today.

Harrison set the defensive tone early with his hit on WR Derrius Thompson (3r/65 yds).

Seymour had his best game this season blocking K Olindo Mare's FG (2 for 4) in the fourth., and then knocking down a crucial pass that QB Jay Fiedler (20/35 for 230 yds) needed to keep his team in the game.

Tyrone Poole killed the Dolphins momentum on two big plays when he knocked a Fiedler pass from WR Chris Chambers (3r/30 yds, 1 TD) hands in the fourth, and picking off the Fiedler pass intended for Chambers in OT to set up the game winning drive for the offense.

LB's Roman Phifer (7t) and Tedy Bruschi (6t and 1 forced fumble) continued to get it done, while rookie DE Ty Warren finished the game with seven tackles and one sack.

As I have said before this defense may just be the best in the league within the next few weeks when the injured players begin to return, something teams may not want to foresee.

Today the offense showed some signs of life with QB Tom Brady (24/34 for 283 yds, 2 TDs) throwing an 82 yard TD bomb to WR Troy Brown (6r/131 yds) on the first play of their second possession in OT to win the game.

After a miserable Giants game, the WR corps put up some good numbers with Deion Branch coming in below Brown with six receptions for 62 yards, David Givens (3r/34 yds), RB Kevin Faulk (5r/31 yds) and TE Christian Fauria (2r/16 yds).

The running game was held in check today by a tough Dolphins defensive interior with Faulk carrying the ball 18 times for 38 yards with one fumble.

Mike Cloud (5 carries for 8 yds) struggled, while QB Tom Brady finished with three carries for 10 yards.

If they gave out awards for coaching staff of the week Bill Belichick and his crew deserved it keeping the game tight and drawing up a balanced game plan, and just to give you an idea of how tight this game was...

Total Yards: Pats, (332); Dolphins, (326) Total Plays: Pats, (64); Dolphins (65) Avg. Gain: Pats, (5.2 yds); Dolphins (5.0) Rushes: Pats, (29); Dolphins, (29) QB's: Brady, (24/34); Fiedler, (20/35) Time of possession: Pats, (30:06);> Dolphins (29:54)

So can the Pats keep this ride going? Can the Ref figure out the difference between heads or tails? And is QB Tim Couch's career in Cleveland over?

These questions should be answered by next Sunday at Gillette.
