Ben Affleck Caught Speeding

Shortly after releasing himself from an alcohol rehabilitation facility in California, Ben Affleck was apprehended for greatly exceeding the speed limit in Georgia. According to a spokesman for the Treutlen County Sheriff's Department, the Pearl Harbor star was tracked down by deputies after he was determined to be travelling 114 mph on Interstate 16 last Wednesday. The speed limit on Interstate 16 is 70 mph.

Affleck was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he was apprehended and he cooperated fully with the officers involved. "He was ticketed for speeding," a Georgia deputy said. "But we ticket thousands of people for speeding so we're not gonna make a big deal of it." Treutlen County Sheriff Wayne Hooks said that his deputies barely recognized the superstar. "They said you'd have never known [it was him]," said Hooks. "He had on an old mechanic's jacket with somebody else's name on it and a little round pair of glasses."

Ben and his passengers were returning from a trip to Savannah, Georgia, one of the star's favorite getaways, ever since filming Forces of Nature there with Sandra Bullock two years ago. Affleck, who celebrated his 29th birthday on August 15th while in rehab, posted a cash bond of $1,114 at the county jail and was released in about 20 minutes. He was not arrested and no further action will be taken.
