The girlfriend of the missing British backpacker Peter Falconio has admitted to a jury in Darwin that her story has changed, but she put the inconsistencies down to sleep deprivation and deep distress following his disappearance in the Australian desert.
On her third day on the witness stand, Joanne Lees was questioned by a defence barrister for Bradley Murdoch, whom she identified as the murderer of Mr Falconio, about her early description of a "straggly-haired" man.
Mr Murdoch has close-cropped grey hair. She said that after her ordeal she suffered insomnia for many nights.
